Sheryl Sandberg and Dieter Zetsche to discuss innovation and leadership in the digital age

Another new highlight has been announced as part of the upcoming ‘me Convention’: Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, will meet on stage to discuss many topics including, innovation, women in leadership, digital skills, resilience, and the professional world of the digital age. The Expert Talk between Ms Sandberg and Mr Zetsche will take place on Friday 15th September at 12:45pm at Frankfurt’s me Convention – a collaboration between SXSW and Mercedes-Benz.

How do you foster innovative spirit and creativity in the digital age? What skills do young talents need today if they want to become the successful leaders of tomorrow? What role does diversity play when it comes to the best ideas for the digital future? What inspires the new generation of motivated and talented leaders? And where do Facebook and Daimler as companies see themselves culturally between start-up mentality and corporate structures? These – and many more – questions will be discussed by the two top managers at me Convention.

“I am very much looking forward to the conversation with Sheryl Sandberg – undoubtedly one of the most distinguished managers from Silicon Valley. Sheryl has done an outstanding job for Facebook and for the success of women all across the world. And successful women are in higher demand in the job world than ever before,” remarked Dieter Zetsche, who was recently voted Germany's most popular manager by his employees on the 'Glassdoor' career portal.

“Daimler and Facebook certainly have different histories – but today they are facing a similar challenge: we're living in a more open and connected world than ever before, and the speed of change means we all have to innovate to capitalise on the shift to digital. Both Daimler and Facebook are making investments to ensure that people have the skills they need to be successful in the digital age. We all have a responsibility to ensure the benefits of technology are realised by the greatest number of people possible,” added Sheryl Sandberg.

As the author of the best-selling book ‘Lean In’, Ms Sandberg shares her personal stories, uses research to shine a light on gender differences, and offers practical advice to help women achieve their goals. In her new book ‘Option B’, she describes how she dealt with tragedy and how to help people build resilience and find meaning in the face of adversity.
