Industry leaders to discuss digitalisation of upstream and downstream operations at AUTOMA 2022
Industry leaders to discuss digitalisation of upstream and downstream operations at AUTOMA 2022

Benefits of the digital oilfield, alongside security risks, and the impacts of implementing ML and AI in operations will all be explored at the Oil and Gas Automation and Digitalization Congress (AUTOMA 2022) from 17–18 October in Milan, Italy.

Expert speakers and decision-making delegates from leading oil & gas companies, EPCs, refineries, and pipeline operators gather in Milan, Italy, for the premier event, which returns in October 2022 for its fifth edition amidst an era in which the drive towards automation and digitalisation has become more vital than ever, across the value chain.

Optimising processes, maximising profits

For the last few years, oil & gas companies have made strong shifts towards optimising their processes and maximising their profits via the use of tech-savvy equipment and smart platforms. For instance, Equinor recently started production from one of the most up-to-date offshore developments – the Mariner field. It includes a digital copy of a platform, automated drilling and offshore digital workers. The field increases revenue and production in the supply chain.

However, such methods cannot prevent the risks of theft, personal data leaks, and various errors. Thankfully, oil & gas operators could resolve such issues through the implementation of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) into working processes. These advanced technologies not only manage, assort and collect data but also provide the safety procedures for accessing information.

By analysing and collecting data – for example, the measurements from tank farms and machines – refining operators could make intelligent decisions in boosting efficiency and reducing costs with maintenance. This means that basic automation and customised planning tools could be easily applied to existing operational systems. More about the Plant of the Future is to be discussed at AUTOMA 2022 by speakers from AVEVA, Tekfen Engineering and NEUMAN & ESSER Group.

Leader Talks @ AUTOMA 2022

All such topics will be presented at leader talks at AUTOMA 2022. The leader talks will take the format of a presentation from each individual speaker in turn, followed by a discussion between all of these subject experts. Among the speakers and delegates will be those key executives and specialists emanating from TotalEnergies, Worley, MOL Group, Equinor, Petrofac, Cepsa, McDermott, TANAP, Eustream, KBR, Milazzo Refinery and TUPRAS refineries.

The Congress is a closed-door event. This format assures that only the decision-makers of companies – including chief innovation officers, heads of technology departments, leading technical specialists, and digital leads – will be present at the event.

The agenda of AUTOMA 2022 covers both business-oriented and technical-oriented topics spanning the entire length and breadth of the oil & gas industry value chain – upstream, midstream, and downstream.
