Top energy industry experts gather online for Oil & Gas Automation and Digitalization Congress (AUTOMA)

The third edition of the Oil & Gas Automation and Digitalization Congress (AUTOMA) – covering upstream, midstream and downstream sectors – successfully concluded last week on the BGS Online Platform.

Joining forces with hosting company Eni, organiser BGS Group prepared a special presentation for the final day of the Congress.

HPC5 supercomputer and Green Data Center in depth

The final day was devoted to Eni’s interactive panel offering insight on HPC5, the world’s most powerful supercomputer for industrial use, which is a strategic asset for Eni’s ongoing technological and digitalisation progress.

The day also saw the Congress delving into the sophisticated IT infrastructure surrounding Eni’s new supercomputer – The Green Data Center. A world-class example of environmentally aware design, the Green Data Centre manages 98 per cent of its cooling needs with the use of external air, while most of its electricity necessities are supplied by a nearby power plant and an on-site solar power station. Eni headed an online tour through one of the world’s most energy-efficient data centres.

The oil & gas world meets online

The event was hosted on the BGS Online Platform, BGS Group’s own digital venue designed specifically as a solution to Covid-related constraints. The platform has a history of successful online event hosting and received positive feedback from the participants.

The Congress brought together oil & gas companies, EPCs, refineries, pipeline operators, drilling contractors, and system integrators who seized the opportunity to address both business-oriented and technical-oriented topics in sessions as well as B2B-meetings: digital transformation, data management, smart refineries, advanced technologies in inspection and maintenance, etc. Among the participants were companies such as Eni, OMV Petrom, MOL Group, Equinor, ADNOC, Petrobras, McDermott, Wood, Worley, TechnipFMC, Tecnimont, Saipem, and others.

Congress participants enjoyed the advantages of the online format, such as enlarged delegations, the ability to receive and answer more questions from the audience, as well as the opportunity to exchange experience with oil & gas experts without the need to leave home.

AUTOMA returns 4-5 October 2021

Returning in October, the Oil and Gas Automation and Digitalization Congress (AUTOMA) will feature OMV Petrom as the Host Sponsor. The fourth edition of the premier event is scheduled to take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 4-5 October 2021.
