of The Big 5
Shoaib Alrahimi, Vice President of the business park

Dubai South, the 145-square-kilometre urban city development emerging in the emirate of Dubai, in partnership with The Big 5 – the Middle East’s leading construction event – have announced the launch of the ‘How to Do Business in the UAE’ seminar on 28th November at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Exhibitors and visitors participating at The Big 5 event this year will be able to take part to the seminar for free.

The ‘How to Do Business in the UAE’ seminar will provide international companies information on navigating the complex regulatory framework to set up a business and win work in the UAE’s booming construction market. It will also share key insights into laws and effective business practices even for established businesses operating within the UAE.

“Over the past four decades, The Big 5 has been a prime gateway for international firms into the United Arab Emirates’ burgeoning construction market,” noted Josine Heijmans, Portfolio Director of The Big 5. “We are extremely glad to continue supporting the development of the construction industry while facilitating business and trade in the UAE. The free seminar, in partnership with Dubai South, will provide terrific value and business intelligence to companies participating at The Big 5 this year.”

Leading global hub for trade, aviation, logistics and commerce

Shoaib Alrahimi, Vice President of the business park, remarked that his organisation was honoured to be part of The Big 5 show, and to host the seminar, which he said would “offer valuable information for participants and educate them about how to set up their business in the UAE and what Dubai South can offer as best investment opportunities”.

Launched in 2006, Dubai South is a self-sustaining development that integrates global trade, business, and logistics within a smart Free Zone environment. Projected to host a population of approximately one million, Dubai South is expected to create 500,000 jobs.

“Dubai South is fast becoming a leading global hub for trade, aviation, logistics and commerce,” added Mr Alrahimi. “It is an unrivalled gateway to the Middle East, Africa and South Asia – the fastest growing markets in the world.”

Shaping the future of construction

According to a recent report on the Gulf’s construction sector, one in two construction developments in the region takes place in the United Arab Emirates. The country is currently home to more than 11,800 active projects, representing a combined value of close to US$800 billion.

Over 2,500 exhibitors from around the globe will participate at The Big 5 this year for four days of business, networking and learning opportunities. Expected to welcome over 60,000 visitors from the GCC region and beyond, the event will feature a rich education agenda with high-level summits and practical workshops.

Returning this year for its 39th edition under the theme ‘Shaping the future of construction’, The Big 5 will introduce a brand new Live Innovation Zone this year, where demonstrations will feature some of the newest and most innovative products available, alongside the Start-up City, which will gather the next construction tech disruptors.
