KEO wins major consultancy contract for Dubai’s Expo Village

KEO International Consultants, a leading design, engineering and project management firm is providing design and construction supervision services for the Expo Village, the residential community development being developed by the Dubai World Trade Centre, which will host visitors and participants for Expo 2020 Dubai.

KEO had previously been commissioned to concept design the buildings and infrastructure of the entire Expo Village and to provide full design and construction supervision of Phase 1 of the development. The development is expected to be delivered by the fourth quarter of 2019, and promises to be a community-based development defined by efficient design coupled with high sustainability principles.

KEO has already completed the technical design for six parcels and provided the supervision services for piling works of 5 parcels and the first main contractor has been awarded with more supervision work underway.

“We are very proud to be the Design Consultant of a legacy development such as the Expo Village, which will support the successful delivery of Expo 2020 Dubai – the first World Expo to be held in the region,” commented Donna Sultan, President and CEO of KEO. “The completion of the design phase and the supervision is only made successful through the dedicated efforts of our international team of experts and the effective collaboration with the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), as well as the various stakeholders involved. KEO’s vast experience in delivering mega projects in the region, coupled with our innovative approach, equip us to deliver to the highest standard and to always place the client at the heart of what we do,” she enthused.

“The Expo village will be brought to life during Expo 2020 Dubai, and KEO’s vision in designing this development goes beyond the mega event to support the client in their strategic vision to deliver a signature residential development of choice to the Emirate” Ms Sultan added.

This development remains a key win for KEO and represents one of the vital developments for Expo 2020, which will serve as the residential community for the upcoming Expo 2020 with about 2,273 apartment units. Alongside providing a home for thousands of Expo participants, the development will include amenitised Retail and Community facilities comprising of a school, day-care centre, and a healthcare facility. This development is located adjacent to the Expo 2020 destination and consists of 11 plots, each with podium parking and state-of-the-art buildings, to be delivered in two phases. It will connect seamlessly to the modern extension of Dubai Metro’s Red Line servicing Expo 2020. The Expo Village will be designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, while a key delivery strategy will have the entire Village development designed within a Building Information Model framework.
